As 2014 draws to a close its probably about time for another blog post….. Well it has been over 18 months since the last one! Need to try and do better in 2015.
I’d like to sit here and write the typical “now where did the year go” style post, however that would not be true. I do know where 2014 has gone as its been a rather busy year all in all!
Probably he biggest draw on my time has been he little one (yes that’s probably the biggest reason for the lack of posts over the last 18 months since he’s nearly 16 months pold now). Its amazing how much time is spent dealing with and entertaining a little one, however its well worth it.
Obviously there has been work this year taking up its usual amount of time. Being bought and becoming part of a much larger technology company looks like it’s going to be a good thing long term. Certainly this year has offered options that I wouldn’t have expected at this time last year (being on the IBC stand, visiting international office a to name a couple). Hopefully next year will bring even more.
So that then leaves the final big draw on my time this year – the refurbishment of the church. Probably the most significant overhaul of the main sanctuary since the church was built about 60 years ago. This saw pretty much all the technical side of things rewired, and along with the work a couple of years ago means that pretty much the entire system has been replaced or significantly overhauled in the last couple of years. Along with major changes to the front means that the space and systems are a lot more flexible. At some point I might write about the choice of equipment and what we picked, however at this point I’m still trying the clear the snags and hoping we don’t have to do another project of that size again in the near future!
So what to next year…… at this point its probably worth looking ahead. At this point, beyond the normal family life, work and church, the main thing I’m thinking about is that I really need to put some time into the model railway. Over the last couple of years I’ve had some generous presents which has increased by rolling stock. This Christmas included a large amount of track and some points. So I really do need to put some time in and get on with it.
That means assuming I get the time and motivation then there will hopefully be a few more blog posts detailing my progress!
So to anyone actually reading this, I hope you’ve had a g good 2014 and that 2015 will be a good and productive year for you.
